Somebody once wrote me, asking, “There are certainly a lot of teachers and students of A Course in Miracles out there, but there must be a thing that you’ve hooked into, or caught onto? Something that triggered a transformation or perhaps a major healing. So, what was it?”
“Trust,” I said.
Consider your daily life as it is apparently nowadays with regards to the story. Just how do we answer the question; “Who do I trust? Where do I believe my safety lies? How will I be sustained? Who is my source?” So whenever we speak about the final stage of the awakening being pure trust, it’s simply about disengaging and withdrawing our faith and rely upon most of these made-up concepts, beliefs, and ideas in the world. It’s a lot like building a big house of cards, stacking using one card after the other. Then a good wind arrives and poof, it’s only blown over. It can’t even stand a little gust of wind. It’s so frail. It’s so temporary. It’s so transitory; a course in miracles It had been this sense of placing rely upon the Spirit and withdrawing rely upon everything else; those issues that were identified and learned as worldly accomplishments. Why should we rely upon those? Have they ever brought us lasting peace and happiness? Are they really trustworthy? It certainly comes right down to the essence of who’s my buddy? Is it Spirit or matter? Is it Spirit or form? Furthermore how most of us have tried trusting people? Has anybody tried this one?So you are asking the question, “When someone dies or is apparently dying of starvation, what does that say about their mind?” Where all this is heading is always to the awareness that everything is mental. What this awakening will highlight is that everything is mental and that everything is a hallucination. This really is a full world of ideas and what we call manifest reality, isn’t reality at all. There’s no distinction between thought and form. Jesus has to build his whole workbook in A Course In Miracles on making the bond between thought and form. His lessons start out with, “Nothing I see means anything,” (W-1) and, “I’ve given everything I see all this is it has for me.” (W-2) Then, He works his way up to number four, “These thoughts do not mean anything&rdquo ;.Now, He’s speaking about thoughts. First He’s speaking about perception, then about our thoughts, then He comes home with lessons 5,6,7,8,9 … perception, perception, perception, perception, perception … and then number 10, “My thoughts do not mean anything.” You can see he’s trying to melt everything together and show the final veil or stage of awakening, which will be trust.
The Holy Spirit uses time and energy to teach us there is no such thing as time, to take us back compared to that timeless moment that’s the gateway to eternity. He uses symbols to teach us that they are all illusions and that they are all equally meaningless. That’s precisely the method of operation of Holy Spirit. The Spirit has to work with your brain to loosen the attachments from the investment in all kinds of things. What kind of things do you invest in, nowadays?
